If You Don't Mind, I Think I'm Gonna Rant For A Bit...

...Not that all y'all aren't used to my ranting.

I guess some people piss me off. To be a little bit more precise, rude people piss me off...like inconsiderate people in the movie theatre...Let me set up the story for you.

So Bryan and I go out for a lovely (albeit muggy) night in Saint John and decide to go do pretty much the only thing you can do in this lovely place I call home. We decide that we are going to go to the movies.

So after a super dinner at East Side Mario's we go to the movies to see Crash. Now, for those of you who have not yet seen this movie, do! It is one of the most amazing and powerful movies I have seen in a long time. This was my second time seeing it, but I enjoyed it so much that I didn't mind seeing it again, and I really wanted Bryan to see it (plus it beat seeing something stupid like Monster In-Law which I'm not linking to purely on principle.) Now Crash is a pretty serious movie; I mean, yes, it has it's funny moments, and there are points where I can understand that some would feel the need to laugh in order to brush off the awkwardness/vulnerable feeling that is present simply because of the heavy topic that the movie deals with. With that being said, this movie is not a comedy. It is tragic and disturbing and moving and should in no way help you break into a fit of the giggles.

Tell that to the cursed 15-year olds in the first section of the theatre.

First of all they show up and can't figure where to sit (there were a lot of them.) Then they finally sit down, and decide that they are going to talk. Then a few minutes into the movie I guess that some of them decided that they felt hungry, and were going to get snacks. But hey, heaven forbid you get in the way of your neighbors conversation, so jump over the seats to get out, why don't you? And they laughed. They managed to laugh at the saddest, most heart-wrenching moments in the movie. I personally wanted to go up to them and strangle one to set an example for the others.

Then there was the woman in front of me who kept checking her bloody cell phone for calls. Now most of you know that I am a cell phone hater as is, but I can deal with other people having them. But when those cursed blue buttons are shining in my eyes and distracting me from the screen, I want to take your cell phone and shove it so far up your nose you will sneeze ring tones. Then, she decides that she is going to make a call, and then gets up and leaves 10 minutes before the movie is over.

I sorta wonder what some of these people did before cell phones...you know, the days when you could go out and have fun and enjoy yourself without worrying who was looking for you.

Then, I guess almost everyone in the theatre was in a real hurry to get out of there, because most of them had their coats on and their garbage collected a good two minutes before the movie was over, and were walking out the door. I mean, I was near the front of the theatre, so maybe there was a fire in the back of the theatre that I failed to notice, but it pissed me off that these people couldn't sit still for another 120 seconds until the credits appeared.

After I had calmed down, we decided to go for coffee. Right, like I need coffee at midnight.

Actually, it wasn't too bad...it calmed me down (believe it or not) and Bryan and I had a good laugh while I tried to eat this super sticky doughnut and managed to get it all over me.

I figured I wouldn't sleep after ingesting caffeine so late at night, so I came home intent on blogging, but the computer had already been turned off, so I decided that it could wait until later. So I did some puzzles and then crawled into bed around 2:00.

It was funny...while I was trying to fall asleep, I must have been lying funny or something, because my nose was making snoring noises, but I was still wide awake. It was like my body had fallen asleep, but my mind hadn't caught up yet. I eventually had to tell myself to stop snoring so I could fall asleep! Ha!

I guess you had to be there...and since none of you were, you're gonna have to take my word for it.

Anywho, I'm working on a really geeky project (because I am an uber geek, and proud of it), so I'm gonna end this post...now!

A Gentle Warning Would Have Been Appreciated...

Most of you have known me for awhile now. I'd like to think that we're good friends. Which brings me to my oh-so innocent question:

WHY HAS NO ONE WARNED ME THAT I AM A DANGER TO MYSELF?!?!?!

Ahem...I just had a very weird thing happen to me, caused by me, and it got me to wondering why nobody has ever pulled me aside and gone: "Hey Kyla...I think it's a good idea for you to stay away from yourself for awhile to avoid any permanent damage and injury."

I bring you Exhibit A: (no, there will be no Exhibit B)

I was in the shower, minding my own business, and shaving my legs when I notice this monstrocity on the right side of my right leg:

Somehow, without me knowing, I have gained a monstrous black/green/yellow/purple bruise. Now, this bruise doesn't hurt, and I have no clue how I got said bruise. Needless to say, my lack of knowledge about forementioned bruise freaked the freak out of me, and caused me to jump a little.

Now please note the bandages above said bruise. These bandages are covering up the cuts that I inflicted upon myself upon jumping after seeing said bruise. Yes, while shaving my legs, I jumped and hacked open my leg while doing so.

And now as I type this I realize that I've had my hair curlers in for at least 20 minutes too long, and now I will suffer the fate of going out tonight looking like the illegitimate love-child of Carrot Top.

It's so not my day...

Look Down...Look Way, Way Down...

For those of you who have left your name for me to fill out a survey for, please go down a few postings and you will find your response.

I did not forget you! They're there!

Enjoy!

P.S. Jesse and Alyssa...that means you!

Productivity At The House Of Kyla

You'd think with all the spare time I have, I'd be blogging more.

No...not really...because, you see, that would require me doing something productive, which we all know I am so not capable of.

Ok, I lie. I know that most of you believe that I sit here on my butt all day in pajamas and do nothing but watch television and play computer games while everyone else goes out and works and makes money and contributes to society. That is only mostly true. Let's clear up some things:

1) Yes, I do sleep in until 1:00 every day, but that actually has to end this week (as my training starts at 8:00 every day for the next three weeks (which, in case you can't read between the lines means that, yes, I do have a job.))

2) Yes, I do spend most of the day in pajama's BUT I don't just sit around. I vacuum every once in awhile (but I do that in my stilletos...long story...), I make dinner, do dishes, tidy up, and make the house look presentable. I even do my laundry, my sisters laundry, and usual most of her boy-toys' laundry as she now has reign over half of his sweaters.

3) I do not play computer games when I am on the computer...only every so often. I get bored fast and usually can't deal with doing one thing for a long amount of time. At any given time while I am on the computer I have a minimum of 5 windows (not including conversation windows) open, doing different things. One is usually Adobe Premiere, I usually have a news article that I'm reading on the go, iTunes, and multiple other websites that I keep switching between.

So as you can see, I keep myself busy while I'm all by myself throughout the day. I do feel bad for those who log on to MSN in the evenings, however, because by then I am so starving for human-interaction that I demand that they talk with me and continue to keep me entertained (as I feel I have worked hard enough doing that for myself throughout the day.) Bryan has done a very good job of putting up with me this week, as I ramble on about nothing and everything. It'll be nice to go out with him on Friday and end this cabin fever that I am suffering from.

Hey...check it out...I found some old school pics on this computer. Teehee...I look like such a nerd! Look at my stupid hair!

Ok, I just realized how insanely off topic that was...I'm gonna go lie down before I lose even more of my mind (I don't have very much to begin with...)

Cheat Commandos, Rock, Rock On!

Name Responses

Ok...here are the responses for those who added their names to the post below (for those of you who haven't added your names, add them below and watch for my response for you to be added to this section!)

Kayla
01. Kayla is my wild, crazy, superfriend from Newfoundland. She is in my film course, and throughout the school year she and I are joined at the hip, sorta like the brothers from Stuck On You.
02. Song = I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred (for obvious reasons, right Kayla?), Movie = When Harry Met Sally (simply because you made me watch it, and when you did I gave you my flu.)
03. 2:00 PM...a comfortable hour for beginning an afternoon nap, or throwing a backyard party.
04. Funky.
05. Our 7-hour trip to IKEA.
06. A parrot - bright and colourful and happy-looking.
07. Why you put up with me in the first place.

Bryan
01. Bryan used to run away from me in the hallways when I tried to give him a hug. He doesn't run away anymore, and that's super nice.
02. Song = To Make You Feel My Love by Billy Joel (your MSN name last week, which we both know was a good week ;) ), Movie = The Shawshank Redemption (because I'm gonna make you watch it with me.)
03. 11:00 PM...laid-back and relaxed, but still a good time to have fun.
04. Charming.
05. The Steve Buscemi inspired super snuggle at Nick's house.
06. A giraffe - I still say that you are abnormally tall seeing as you manage to tower over me even when I have my three inch stilletos on (though that could just mean I am abnormally short.)
07. Why you used to run away from me in the hallways.

Kelley
01. Kelley is bright and bubbly. It's hard to frown when Kelley is bouncing around.
02. Song = Losing Grip by Avril Lavigne (due to our little sing-along session at Jocelyn's the other night), Movie = Identity (because I am gonna remember Jocelyn watching it at your house and have a freak-out...oh good times.)
03. 7:30 PM...adaptable...a good hour to begin an evening get-together or have a late dinner.
04. Sweet.
05. Gotta be us dancing together at the Blue Rodeo concert.
06. Koala - little and looks snuggly, but there is a ferocious beast under there somewhere. ;)
07. What things would have been like if we never became friends.

Jocelyn
01. Jocelyn sat behind me in Advanced Math, and we later became good friends (not because of Advanced Math, though...that would just be weird.)
02. Song = Circle Of Friends by Point of Grace (I remember you telling me how much you love them, and this is my favourite song by them), Movie = The Little Mermaid (because of your love for Disney, and that decoupage thingamathing you did.)
03. 7:00 AM...calm and collected
04. Giving.
05. Sharing a room with you at DramaFest (and all the crazy things that happened that weekend.)
06. A dove - sweet and serene, but with a free spirit.
07. What your first impression of me was.

Jesse
01. Jesse is my 6 year old cousin from Edmonton. He is going into law school next year, and got happily married less than a year ago (at least I think it was less than a year ago.) And yes, Jesse is 6. I'm being totally honest!
02. Song = Who Am I by Casting Crowns (because you introduced me to it and it rocks my world), Movie = Can I say a TV show instead? If so, I say Boy Meets World because I remember thinking (when I read teeny-bopper mags) that you looked so much like Rider Strong.
03. 9:00 PM - Party time!
04. Confident.
05. Hmmm...well it's been well over 3 years since I saw you, so I have to think way back...It would probably be something during the time you were a youth leader at church when I was entering Grade 7, and all the girls wanted to know me because I was related to you.
06. A panther - proud and fierce.
07. You wrote me letters when you were at YWAM telling me how cool you thought I was. Did you mean it or were you just being nice since I wrote to you?

Alyssa
01.I met Alyssa when she was my understudy for the first play I was ever in. We were not friends when we first met. We always claim that we 'met over MSN' because one day we started talking on MSN (I believe it was during a Christmas break) and our friendship grew from there. I haven't seen her in over three years, and we sadly don't talk as much as we used to. I unfortunately haven't mastered the art of good communication, so I blame me for that.
02. Song = El Salvador by Phil Joel (I was actually listening to this song the other day while I was cleaning my room and it took me back), Movie = Waking Ned Devine (I still haven't seen it, but you'll see it's on my list at #61...I just remember you talking about it and recommending it to me...I was going to put down The Full Monty but then I remembered that it was Thomas who talked about that one non-stop.)
03. 12:00 PM - stable, yet relaxed.
04. Unique.
05.Gotta be anything to do with Drama Club...from you helping me change into my wedding dress, to you combing my hair, to lying around on the big mat and complaining about Katherine's horrible version of the Shrew.
06. A peacock - lovely, and not afraid to show it's true colours and individuality.
07. What was the last conversation we had (I know it was awhile ago...)?

Feeling Left Out...

Ok...a few people have this on their blog and I was feeling left out, so I decided I would conform and do it too!

I didn't get it at first, but Jocelyn explained it to me...Basically leave me a comment with your name and (providing that I know who you are) I will write about you in my next blog posting for the world to see. It will be super awesome...I promise!

01. Reply with your name and I will write something about you.
02. I will then tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
03. If I were to apply an o'clock to you, it would be...
04. I will try to name a single word that best describes you.
05. I'll tell you the most memorable moment I've had with you.
06. I will tell you what animal you remind me of.
07. I'll then tell you something that I've always wondered about you.
08. Put this in your journal. (optional)

So don't leave me hanging! Leave your name!

A Short Recap

I wasn't excited about yesterday. Not at all. Nope, not me.

Yes, the fact that I was ready with shoes on at 4:00 and my ride wasn't picking me up until 8:30 is complete and indisputable proof that I was not excited about seeing Star Wars last night.

What a night...it's all a bit of a blur (as I worked myself into a tizzy.) I was bouncing around in line, which, I assure you, is no easy feat in three inch stilletos, but I managed.

The movie itself...I don't even want to talk about it...I just want to bask in all it's amazing glory. I agree with the majority of the critics that say that George Lucas made up for the first two prequels with this movie. There are moments in it that are simply breathtaking (not to mention slightly chilling.)

It was sorta funny. Lindsay (AKA My Cookie) and I had gone to see The Interpreter last Friday at the theatre, and we sat in seats that had a bar in front of them so we could put our legs up. So when they let us in for Star Wars we ran quickly to the theatre, found our friends, and claimed our seats. After some shuffling to make sure that people were sitting by whomever they wanted to, Lindsay and I realized we were in the exact same theatre in the exact same seats as we had been before. It was good for a laugh.

Right now I feel like I'm floating...I'll give more details about the movie and stuff when I manage to come back down.

I Swear This Is Not A Star Wars Post

Ok I lied...

Just curious...who thinks this t-shirt kicks butt?

I Need This AKA Another Star Wars Post

Ok...this will be a quick post. I found something that I want so bad and I'm sad that I can't buy it anywhere.

Star Wars? Thursday?

Ok...I swore that I wouldn't do this and that I was going to refrain from any postings of this nature...

UNFORTUNATELY, we all know that I am just as fluent in the geek language as all the boys I hang out with, so it was just a matter of time before I went crazy and did this. Therefore, *clears throat*...

To celebrate the fact that Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, I am going to post every single Star Wars link I have in my collection, either stuff I have found myself, or stuff I have randomly stolen from other peoples blogs in the past weeks. Enjoy...

  • Ok...first of all we need to pay tribute to the home page.

  • Now we have a lovely livejournal entry dedicated to the worst of the worst when it comes to people dressing up at conventions. I love what it is titled.

  • Here is a Star Wars Family Tree for those who forget who is who in the galactic zoo (or people like me who don't know if they're gonna have a chance to watch the first two again before Thursday...I've got the trilogy down no prob...no worries about that!)

  • In case you were wondering, this is how a lightsaber works.

  • A list of the lamest Star Wars characters ever. Let me tell you the creators of this one should be glad they didn't put my Han Solo on here or they would have a war on their hands.

  • You musical people will love checking this out...a Star Wars musical and a Star Wars one-man-show.

  • Here is what I have wanted for years (my birthday is coming up...hint hint)

  • I actually haven't looked at this yet...the picture just made me giggle.

  • Here are some pretty rockin' photos from Vanity Fair.

  • Best. Pepsi. Commercial...Ever.

  • I don't totally know how to describe this one, but it kept me amused for far longer than it should have.

  • The obligatory Lego stuff.

  • Whee! Pretty screenshots!
Ok that appears to be it for now...but if I find any other links on any of the blogs I frequent or whatnot, I will post them. But nothing after Thursday, I SWEAR! (I know, I shouldn't lie to myself!)

P.S. I got a job! *mini-yay and a smiley face*

Star Wars Personalities

In preparation for Star Wars next Thursday, I did a little quiz. Here is which Star Wars character I would be. Check out the quiz and let me know your results! I am:

A Night To Remember

Now that everyone is back from school (although some are still in school, we consider them back simply because they never left), Nick had a little get-together to celebrate a good year and the upcoming summer. These pictures are from that memorable night, a night which none of us will soon forget. I have separated the pictures into various sections so they aren't all in one long post. I hope you enjoy them.

These pictures are brought to you from the one...the only...

Here is Lindsay and Nick. Doesn't my Cookie look oh so sweet...lucky for us we all know she's just acting...

Kyle and Andrew look really excited to be in this picture. Thanks for playing along boys!

Ricky looks about as enthused as Kyle and Andrew, though he does have a more thoughtful look on his face.

This is Ryan and Jocelyn caught off guard. I love doing that to people, especially after the first picture of this post was taken.

Andrew is once again attacking. This time it is Lindsays turn. She appears to be enjoying it. We'll let it be her turn all the time from now on.

Kyla And Ricky

This lovely section would be the "Kyla and Ricky" section. In this section you will find numerous pictures of Kyla and Ricky acting like morons. Actually, to be fair, it is a section of Kyla acting like a moron and Ricky playing along just to be nice. He's a good friend like that.

I believe that this picture needs some explanation. Ricky (for a reason I cannot remember) decided to grab my neck and go in towards my face with the intention to bite off my nose (or something like that.) However, angle expert Lindsay took a picture that makes it look like Ricky is going in for a big kiss...and that Kyla is enjoying it. Gotta love those angles (see the last picture in this post.)

Since Ricky is all buff now, I decided to leap into his arms to see if he could catch me...he could.

I don't know what I find so funny, but I appear to be laughing my head off.

Our angle expert Lindsay took over for this picture, stating that a different angle would give it a more interesting look. I think she was right...

Thanks to Ricky for being a good sport and putting up with my shenanigans...teehee...I like that word...shenanigans.

The Girls

Now we have the highlight of the show, also known as the pictures of the girls. Yes, these lovely ladies take great photos...well at least they do on a regular basis...these ones are pretty scary.

Here are the ladies looking oh so happy to be together again. Almost too happy...

I will be the first to admit that I ruined this pic...I didn't inform them that I didn't feel like smiling anymore (all that grinning can get to ya!)

Ah...here we are puckering up for all those whose eyes look upon this picture. Please note that Lindsay is trying very hard not to laugh. She claims that this was because the boys were looking at us funny, but I think it was because she let out and SBD or something.

Ah, here we have the picture that launched the "Sexy Pose" photo shoot. Unfortunately this photo is severely lacking in sexiness. I mean, look at my arm...it's all funny looking and...ugh...manly. Yes Lindsay and Jocelyn are cute, but my man arms make me want to hurl.

The Boys

Now, following the pictures of the girls is, appropriately, the pictures of the boys.

Here we have a lovely picture of Andrew, Kyle, and Nick. Yes, I realize that Kyle is mostly blocked, but this picture is a lot better than the next one where he isn't blocked. I guess it is simply because the look on Nick's face is so priceless.

I told you so! (Kyle looks like he is going to be ill...very ill.) Ryan and Ricky were at the get-together too...I don't know why they aren't in these pics.

Ah...nevermind...Ryan was busying taking my place by jumping into Ricky's arms.

Sexy Pose

Welcome to the "Sexy Pose" section of the evening.

Jocelyn, Lindsay, and myself were joking around and posing together, and hamming it up for the camera. This of course caught the attention of the boys. To be fair, I took a "Sexy Pose" of everyone present at the get-together (though you will notice that the girls did a much better job of at least trying to pose all sexy-like than the boys did.) The photos are in alphabetical order by first name.

Here is Andrew's "Sexy Pose." Note the lack of enthusiasm in his eyes. I even tried to inspire him by being on the more flirtacious side, but alas, nothing seemed to work. This picture was taken without his consent and he's probably not too impressed that I put it on my blog.

Here we have Jocelyn working it for the camera. Coy, yet moving. Mysterious, yet very open. I like it Jocelyn. I really, really like it.

Here is my "Sexy Pose." As you can tell, I was trying a bit too hard, and would have no luck attracting any guys with this look. I might however, attract flies and various forms of bacteria.

This is picture #1 from the "What They DON'T Teach At Acadia" section. They obviously don't teach how to pose very well, as evident from how Kyle posed when I walked up to him and said "Ok Kyle...your turn for the sexy pose!"

One word for this one: hot. (I love you Cookie!)

Lindsay is my sunshine and she is the most qualified when it comes to the art of the "Sexy Pose." I think she should hold a class or something.

Ah...here we have section two of "What They DON'T Teach At Acadia." Nick is sporting a confused and absent look that can hardly be classified as sexy. I gave him another chance however...

...and he didn't do so well the second time around, either. Maybe it's a second year course or something...

Ricky didn't want a "Sexy Pose" and it took me a good 10 minutes of chasing him with a camera to get him in the middle of the frame, so this cannot be directly qualified (nor can the next picture) as a pose.

I don't know why he wouldn't pose though...he's all buff and stuff...maybe he was worried about showing the rest of us up or something...yes that's definitely it...

Finally, but certainly not least, we have Ryan doing the ever popular "Buddy Christ" pose. Would it be sacreligious to refer to it as sexy?

And so concludes the posting of the photos from Wednesday night. Stay tuned for more events throughout the summer (because there will be more, I can guarantee it.)
