Who Am I Not To Be?
I apologize for not updating in over a month - apparently I sucked up all my creativity with my Pepsi Blue post and had none left for anything else.
Truth is, as cliche as it is, I've actually been quite busy with work, school (an online course), and family stuff. My sister came to visit me for a week and a bit, and she's leaving tonight, so I've been spending more time with her going to baseball games, Canada's Wonderland, and various movies than I have spent updating my blog. Hopefully, as my to-do list gets shorter and shorter I'll be able to update this on a more regular (whatever that means) basis.
I don't really have much to say. I guess I wanted to share a quote. It's overquoted (I heard it in not one, but two different movies during one week of my movie watching), but it's really quite powerful, and I challenge you to really read it, and try to see where it applies to your life (cue the sappy music.) It definitely holds a significant amount of meaning in my life lately (especially as I turn 20 in less than two weeks, and am graduating from college next year), and for some reason today I was inspired to quote it here. Enjoy. (Oh, and for those of you who aren't really into thinking right now, or can't deal with anything deep, scroll down further for a photo break! I think that should cover all the bases - I just aim to please my audience!)
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
My sister, Kristyn, at the Blue Jays game (note the reflection of the photographer (yours truly!) and the CN tower in her glasses.)
Kyla in her brand new face-eater sunglasses.
My father, me, and my sister - the happy family at the baseball game. Yay for Canada Day long weekends! (And if you're curious, that's Curious George on my shirt.)
The happy family at my cousin David's house for a BBQ the next day (and no, it's not my sisters big hair that makes her that tall...she's actually taller than all of us.)

I saved the best for last. Dad told me to pose, so I started "Vogue"-ing it up (not knowing he had actually turned the camera on by that point.) My sister looks impressed. The two shirts I'm wearing are new; I got the black one on sale, half off, appropriate (according to my cousin), because it's half a shirt. He's so clever.
