How Wonderful Life Is Now You're In The World
I have an annoucement to make.
I am officially obsessed with "Your Song" by Elton John. Although, I will openly admit that, even though Elton's version is amazing, nothing touches me the way that Ewan McGregor's does in Moulin Rouge.
I don't know if it's the words, or the music itself, or simply the emotion that is conveyed through the magical combination of the two, but this song calms me down like nothing else can. I would almost go as far as to say that it is my favourite song...ever.
Most of you know that I have a short fuse. When I get angry, I get really angry. But when I play this song, I can feel every ugly emotion, every bad feeling, every hateful thought get wiped away as the music washes over me. It sends shivers down my spine and I get goosebumps.
I don't know why I'm sharing this all...I guess I've had a rough couple of days and just needed a release. This song also captures perfectly the all the emotions I feel right now, at this point in my life; I have someone in my life who makes me indescribably happy, and this song reminds me of him.
Thanks for listening.
Your Song by Elton John
It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live
If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is now you're in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses, well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forgetting, but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

I love this song, and I will have to agree that the arrangement in Moulin Rouge is amazing.
Heh.. that used to be my sister and her now ex-boyfriends song.
