Commenting On Commentors

I appear to be having the same problem that Andy had awhile ago. Please note exhibit A from my post about the cartoon Steve Buscemi:

Hitler has been made into several cartoon charachters. That doesn't make him adorable.

I have a few comments for this commenter (don't worry, I'll be nice.)

1) I really don't like it when people don't leave their names. I've done it once or twice here and there as a joke, and I'm pretty sure people who I've left comments with can tell that it's me. Most of the people who read my blog either a) have a blog with blogger already so I can tell who it is or b) leave their name with their comment so I know who has been kind enough to read my blog. Even if I don't know them, they still leave their name so I can possibly track down who has linked to my blog from theirs. Maybe you did intend for your comment to be funny...who knows? I will say, however, in my world, a joke is followed shortly by a sideways winking smiley or an 'lol' or something along those lines so people don't get the wrong impression (hence this posting.)

2) I would like to first point out that I am not stupid, and yes I do realize that anything I say and post on my blog can be read by anyone who has an Internet connection. However, with that being said, a majority of the postings on this website are directed toward a group of my closest friends, who understand the inside jokes that I am making, and can laugh about them (or shake their heads in disgust) and go on with their happy lives. A majority of the blogs I personally read are of my closest friends. It's a way for us to keep in contact despite the long distances we sometimes find between us. Yes, every once in awhile I have a philosophical or mindless post that can pertain to anyone anywhere anytime, but most of the time the average person who is not affiliated with me will not understand these postings. Please do not leave some random comment about something you don't know anything about. The point was not that being a cartoon character is adorable. The point was that I love Steve Buscemi, and the fact that he became a cartoon is adorable and wicked awesome.

3) I have been trying to figure out who may have posted this, but most of my friends can spell. I am posting this post in hopes that someone sees it and thinks twice before they make a comment that can be in turn misinterpreted (just as my blog must have been misinterpreted.) I don't want to close my blog to anonymous posts, but if this keeps up (trust me, I've had a few other, entertaining ones) I just might have to.

That's all I needed to say.

P.S. If you are going to post something that can be misleading (as, over the Internet, one cannot interpret tone) try to catch me on one of my non-combative days, okay?

Jesse,

Thanks for the comment...

I did think at one point that it was you (it had your form of sarcasm to it) but I didn't want to make random accusations that would offend people.

I guess this one comment sent me over the edge...I get so many stupid comments from random blogger people who don't know what they're talking about that I finally snapped. I had hoped I was snapping on one of these random people who would probably never lay eyes on my blog again, but I was obviously mistaken. I also wasn't sure that it was you because I haven't noticed posts from you in awhile, so I wasn't sure you were still around. AND I was CERTAIN that you were a better speller than that. No worries. ;)

Anyway, I do have a warning system implemented, but it is only in New Brunswick...though I do currently have it in the test stages in Ontario and Quebec. It'll reach Alberta eventually.

I hope I didn't say anything that offended you in my post. I was looking for a fight, and lo and behold, one came knocking at the door of my blog. It was nice to have an argument for once.

Hope you're having a good summer, dude.
