I Deserve An Award

No, seriously, I think I deserve an award (albeit, not quite like the one below):

There is this girl on my floor (who also happens to be in my course) who, whenever you say anything says: "Well don't you deserve a medal?" Then she'll joke around and pretend to pull a medal out of her pocket and hand it to you.

She finally took this idea of hers to the extreme, and whenever she said "Well don't you deserve a medal" she started writing out medals for everyone for why they deserve a medal. Mine was, as you can see, for "Nicest Face", as I did a facial earlier this evening (see picture below.) She gave me one earlier for "Best Hair", but I threw it out already. She actually posted like 50 of those things on the door of one girl in my dorm. It got quite the reaction, let me tell you. We were rolling on the floor laughing for 15 minutes straight, I kid you not.

Anyway, getting back to my topic.

I truly believe that I deserve an award. Actually, to make things clear, I think everyone deserves an award. Awards are one of the key parts of my plan to create peace throughout the world.

I want an award, because I think I deserve one. I started thinking about life the other day, and I feel that I have gone through quite a bit in my short 18 years. My active participation in the events of my life should earn me an award. I mean, look what I've had to deal with (on the negative side to start):

-heartbreak (more than one)
-parent's divorcing
-being sick (many occasions!)

Well, you get the picture. On the plus side I've:

-been in numerous plays
-encouraged people and let them know they were loved
-continued on to post-secondary education
-earned money the hard way (work :P)

The list (for both) goes on and on! I mean, my life has been exhausting, and should merit some award of sorts. It should have a catchy title as well. Like "Best Use Of The Word Exhausting In A Sentence" or something like that. And if my award is something random like that, then there should be more than enough awards to go around, so everyone can have an award that was personalized and tailored just for them.

People seem to get really happy when they are awarded with something. Did you see Roberto Benigni when he won the Best Actor award at the Academy Awards in 1998? When they announced he won he lept onto his seat and then onto the seats of others around him and danced around. He bounded towards the stage and yelled in Italian-ized English about his joy and gratitude. Awards make people happy.

I figure if everyone was given an award of sorts to call their own, then everyone would be happy and stop trying to hurt people and make the lives of others miserable. People would try to brag, but no award would be better than anyone else's award. Everyone would have an award and that would be that.

I also think that everyone should have a teddy bear. Teddy bears seem to make people happy, not to mention provide unconditional love. Jesus does that too, but not everybody believes in Jesus. I've never met a person who doesn't believe in teddy bears though.

So my answer to all the problems in the world is: give everyone an award and a teddy bear. People will be so busy talking about their award to their bear that they won't have time to do bad things.

The End

(Please note that I do realize that this is obviously a pipe dream, and these simple objects would not create world peace. It is nice to think about though, isn't it? And so ends my thought for the day...thanks for tuning in!)
