Same Old Song
You know how it goes. You sit down with 100% intent to do something you said you'd do, and then you see that super fun little game you forgot that you love so much, and before you know it you are rushing to find pants so you're not late for cinematography class. Well, it happens to me a lot!
Monday was a blast...unfortunately Monday started too early. I don't have class until 10:00 on Monday's, but since I had all my lovely film equipment, I had to return it by 8:00. It's not bad, I guess...it teaches me about what renting stuff will be like in the real world (minus the paying hugely exaggerated prices for a couple hours of use.)
My friend Kristine and I had planned on working out, but she wasn't feeling good, so we decided we would go to the gym another time. I ate breakfast (yes, I ate breakfast) and then promptly found myself wanting a nap (please note it is only 8:30.) So I take a nap, wake up and go to class, blah, blah, blah.
A few of us (this is where it gets exciting) got permission to leave class early, and went downtown to film and video production assignment. The point of the assignment was to learn about travelling in crews with a large amount of equipment, on top of practical use of all the stuff. We had to interview people on the street about a topic of our choice. We decided to film outside the CBC building and interview people about what they thought about CBC's special on "The Greatest Canadian." We asked them who in the top 10 list they felt deserved the title, and who deserved it that was not on the list. We asked them what they felt about the fact that there were no women on the list, and then we asked them what they thought about Don Cherry being in the top 5. As a bonus we asked them if they could hum the hockey night in Canada theme. We got some really good answers from people, and even interviewed these people who were representative for the UN or something. They talked our ears off, but they were so nice and gave us really good footage to work with! We decided to go out for dinner on Queen St. (for all you NB-ers, Much Music is on that street) to celebrate. On our way we saw this guy playing the bagpipes outside Roy Thomson Hall where the Canadian "Walk of Fame" is. We asked him if he could play the theme to hockey night in Canada. HE COULD!!!!! It was so awesome. We threw an impromptu interview right there, and he gave us better answers than some of the other people we interviewed!
Dinner was good, and then we came home. It felt really late because it gets so dark early, but it was only 7:00 when I got home. Ready to fall asleep, I was looking at my movie collection planning to watch a movie before I went to bed at 9:00. Then Kristine messaged me and wanted to know if I wanted to go work out. Deciding once and for all that health is not something to procrastinate, I agreed, under one condition. Hot-tubbing afterwards!
So I stretched, did 15 minutes on the bike, weights, 5 minutes on the rower and 10 on this glide-y machine that works your butt and calves and thighs and stuff. I felt fine afterwards, but the hot tub was so refreshing! I am going to need to go there more often.
The morning though, was different. Because I had royally schmucked (yes, schmuck) up my arm this weekend, and promptly went crazy on the rowing machine, I screwed it up real bad and it was really sore for much of the day. At that point I realized that I had a humanities test that I had neglected to study for (because I HATE the class!) but really didn't care.
We watched our video assignments in video production and were let out an hour early to do "college related homework." I promptly took a nap, and then studied for my test, and wrote a pretty darn good essay about John Stuart Mill (if I do say so myself!)
I saw Charles, who I hadn't seen in over a week, and then went to the edit suite for a couple hours to do this really lame-o editing assignment (due Thursday.) Then Amy and I watched the end of One Fine Day and then watched Sabrina with Julia Ormond and *sigh* Harrison Ford! I love the man. I know he is like, 62, but he is so bloody gorgeous! If someone REALLY wants to get on my good side for Christmas, get me a replica of Hans Solo frozen in the carbonite from Star Wars! Don't even ask me what he is. He is just really, REALLY good looking, even though he is old. I think I now understand why my mom drools when she sees Robert Redford.
Anyway, I'm going to go to bed now. Long day tomorrow. Hopefully I have time in editing class to tweak my assignment before I e-mail it to her (that's the coolest part about this class...no physical assignments to hand in, just files to transfer!)
I will try to blog again soon! Snoogans!
