Hello Blog...
Hello Blog...
Ummm...I'm sorry that I've been neglecting you. It's just that - yes I know you don't like to hear my excuses, but this one is REALLY good! I swear! Ok...well, here it goes!
It has been an insanely busy week. This weekend I put up a chart on my wall with the name of every class that I have on top of it and posted sticky notes underneath each heading to represent projects/assignments/tests/etc, and I found that I had 8 assignments, 2 tests, and 2 things that are constantly on the go! PANIC TIME!
Monday didn't help me feel better about my workload. The funny thing is that Monday started off OK. No...scratch that. Monday started off awesome. I set my alarm like an hour earlier than I actually want to get up so I can snooze it and not feel guilty or anything, and when it went off (and I subsequently went to snooze it) I found myself wide awake. It was weird. I felt so good after that (and my warm shower) that I even went down to get breakfast. Now, those who know me know that I am not a morning person let alone a breakfast person, but before I knew it I had eaten a chocolate croissant, a breakfast sandwich and a bottle of fruit juice! Class even seemed to fly by that morning! I had edit time booked out from 1-4 to finish up a simple project for class the next day. Around that time is when things started to go downhill.
Actually, to be honest, I was enjoying myself. For me there is something very calming about sitting down in front of a computer for hours on end and editing. Around 3:30 I finished everything and went to burn it to a DVD. The thing is supposed to go through 4 stages of encoding and rendering and burning, etc. Mine goes to stage 2, sits there for half an hour and freezes. I panic a bit, but I see that my friend in another edit suite until 5:00, and that her DVD burner is working. So I go there and we sit down to burn my DVD. Same thing, only this time it takes longer to freeze. So she leaves and I try again. This time the computer doesn't even give me the courtesy of freezing. It just sits on stage 2 forever. So by this time I've defintely outworn my welcome in the editing suite and someone else needs to use it. I go upstairs to the lab and find that there are at least 12 other people from the different sections finishing up the exact same project as I was working on. So I plug in my hard drive, press burn, and you'll never guess what happened! It worked!
The bad thing is that for it to burn so well it got rid of the music and motion on my menus. It still looks good though. So by the time I got out of there, it was 7:00, 3 hours longer than I had planned on staying, stretching my school day to a lovely 9 hours.
Tuesday (yesterday) was cool. Arthur (my teacher) is so slack. We started off by filling in this survey about what kind of teacher he is. He left the room so he couldn't influence our decisions and came back half an hour later, 15 minutes after we had finished the survey. Then he set up a few lights and ran around (literally!) showing us how he looks in different types of lighting. Then he sent us on a break, and when he came back late and realized that no one was doing anything, he sent us home. It rocked! I promptly slept through my humanities lecture and wasted the day playing on my computer.
Later Amy, Deacon, and myself went grocery shopping. It was fun. And yes, grocery shopping is fun when you don't get out much! We went to the LCBO after that and they recommended various drinks to me for when I start drinking. Wow that store is overwhelming! There are so many choices!
Today was cinematography! I LOVE this class! It's probably the hardest of all the classes I have, but it is so interesting and the time flies by so fast! We were learning about colour temperature today (this stuff is almost harder than f-stops) and I got to be the model and sit in front of the lights. Exciting, exciting.
I think I'm going to go to bed soon. I've been working on this top secret project for my friends for Christmas. They had better like it or so help me...! (threat will come later when I am thinking better!)
Oh, and I think my dorm is infested with bugs. I have this NASTY bug bite on my back...if there are bed bugs someone is totally being sued!
Rock on!
