For Those Who Were Wondering...
Some of you are curious as to what I learn while I am here at film school, so I'm going to give you a bit of a run-down on the information gathered during a recent workshop.
After correctly lighting an 18% grey card, and discovering the key light to be sitting at exactly 320 footcandles, we changed the f-stop in the following ways to create an exposure range from -4 to +4: (the first number is exposure, the second f-stop, the third footcandles.)
-4, 22, 160
-3, 22, 320
-2, 16, 320
-1, 11, 320
N, 8, 320
+1, 5.6, 320
+2, 4, 320
+3, 4, 640
+4, 4, 1250
-3, 22, 320
-2, 16, 320
-1, 11, 320
N, 8, 320
+1, 5.6, 320
+2, 4, 320
+3, 4, 640
+4, 4, 1250
I think that should all make perfect sense once put in chart format. Enjoy!
